These are a long, Pis-lazuli stone , style of earring with an intricate filigree pattern in silver. There’s scrollwork and carved-out details within each earring that provide a lace-like effect. There is a dark blue, teardrop-shaped accent (or stone) in the center of the diamond, set among the scrolling silver work. The rims of the earrings are rimmed with a subtle, beaded or serrated border which adds texture and definition to the design as a whole. Plain silver hooks hold them onto the ear, emphasizing the long, thin shape of the item. The combination of the dainty filigree and rich blue centerpiece is both distinctive and handmade.

Lapis lazuli or lapis is a blue metamorphic rock used as a semi-precious stone that has been prized since ancient times for its rich color. From the Old Persian for the gem,  lapis lazuli is a rock predominantly consisting of the minerals lazurite, pyrite and calcite. 
Lapis lazuli started being exported to Europe towards the end of the Middle Ages, being ground up and converted into the pigment ultramarine. Ultramarine was used by some of the most powerful painters of the Renaissance and the Baroque era, including Masaccio, Perugino, Titian and Vermeer, and was used only for the clothing of the central figures in paintings, usually for the Virgin Mary. Ultramarine has also appeared in the dental tartar of medieval monks and nuns, perhaps due to licking their paintbrushes in the process of creating medieval manuscripts and texts.
